The Community Program at Central Texas Youth Ballet allows recreational students ages 6+ to take tap, jazz, contemporary, and beginning ballet (for teens/adults) at CTYB.Â
BEGINNING TAP
Tap, move and have fun!
Students learn tap-rhythm and timing, and proper terminology and musicality is stressed. No experience is necessary.Â
Young dancers will learn balance, shifting of weight and the difference between right and left all while having fun!
For students 6 to 10 years of age by September 1.
Beginning Jazz
Move and groove!
Students learn jazz dance technique and complex jazz combinations. No experience necessary.Â
This class focuses on jazz and great music. Class format consists of a warm-up to enhance core strengthening, balance, and extensions through isolations, rhythmic exercises, and floor stretches. Students study jazz technique, and learn to build complex combinations and routines. Class includes across the floor patterns and short dance routines.Â
For students 6 to 10 years of age by September 1.
Contemporary
Develop performance skills
Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. No experience is necessary, but enrollment in jazz or ballet is recommended.
For students ages 8.5+ years of age by September 1.
