The Children’s Division is suitable for children ages 2 years to 10 years old. Central Texas Youth Ballet’s Children’s Division helps promote early childhood development while exploring the concepts of dance. By focusing on the essence of movement first, we build a solid foundation for the skills and movements needed to advance our specialized dance skills in any style of dance. Students are also taught classroom etiquette/discipline and placed in a fun environment that helps to improve concentration and listening skills while encouraging creativity and group interaction. Students ages two to nine are eligible to participate in our Children’s Division; classes include Discover Dance and Primary Ballet.
Our Discover Dance classes are a series of movement classes designed to introduce children to the creative and expressive world of dance. Each stage of the program offers children the opportunity to develop their natural movement ability in a multi-sensory environment. Music, movement, visuals, and props will enhance your dancer’s love of the art form and the unique conceptual approach to dance education will provide a strong foundation for technical and cognitive growth.
Primary Ballet consists of levels: Primary 1, Primary 2, and Primary 3. Our Primary classes develop poise and musicality in a fun and creative environment while instilling a love of dance and creative expression. Students will be introduced to movement at the ballet barre to help develop correct posture and ballet technique. Basic centre exercises will help develop balance, strength and coordination. Students begin to learn French vocabulary, movement expression and proper ballet etiquette in a non-competitive atmosphere.
